Jaguar cutting manual transmissions from US; other models may be next (Updated)

Jaguar’s current financial woes could spell the end of some models in the U.S., according to a recent report. Jaguar USA CEO Joe Eberhardt told The Detroit Bureau last week that Jaguar will drop its manual transmission, and that slow-selling models could also be shelved. Eberhardt said buyers’ preferences for crossovers and SUVs prompted the shift away from niche models. That’s not to say Jaguar wasn’t prepping for the shift; the brand didn’t prep quickly enough. Jaguar has two cost-cutting plans, “Charge” and “Accelerate,” that aim to save $3.3 billion…

Aluminum-bodied 1963 Jaguar E-Type swings into Jay Leno’s Garage

Jay Leno’s Garage brought one very cool cat onto the show in a recent episode. A 1963 Jaguar E-Type swung into the studio, but this is no typical E-Type. It’s a different animal. Not to be confused as a kit car or a tribute to an original, this is a factory Jaguar E-Type, except Jaguar Classic has replaced the body panels with aluminum. At the end of the 3,000-hour-long restoration (1,500 of which were spent fitting the body to better-than-original specification), the car is about 400-500 pounds lighter than a…

He said sedans will play an integral part in Jaguar’s electrification strategy and are important to long-term strategies in Europe and China. Specifically, Speth said as Europe and China implement stricter emissions regulations, sedans are inherently easier to work with due to their superior aerodynamic properties. Taller SUVs are…

2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 It appears Jaguar has some spare XE SV Project 8s lying around because a batch of them will be tapped for a new one-make racing series.
